Its frustrating that google chrome installed as a different user failed to run while logged in as root. , even if its understood root is the super user.

In such cased lets do some system file edits to tell which directory should chrome take for internal storage thatz it.

Here as of always i prefer GEdit for text editing. , either u can call gedit from command line like

# gedit  /usr/bin google-chrome

or straight away open /usr/bin google-chrome from inside gedit

Now add this line at the end of file

–user-data-dir

Here is my files last few lines

*******************************************************

export CHROME_VERSION_EXTRA=”stable”

# We don’t want bug-buddy intercepting our crashes. http://crbug.com/24120
export GNOME_DISABLE_CRASH_DIALOG=SET_BY_GOOGLE_CHROME

exec -a “$0” “$HERE/chrome” “$@”–user-data-dir

*******************************************************

Now try launching google chrome it will work pretty
