how to screenshot on mac

Take screenshots in Mac with simple key combinations, Take to clipboard or to File

Screenshot on mac is explained well in official apple docs portal . What I am trying to explain is , how to simplify this to suit your usage. Personally I dont like 3 key combinations. Here I create my choice of shortcuts which is far easy from the default combinations and is not troubling me in my daily usage with many other apps.

to do this goto System Preferences , and type Keyboard, Now go to Shortcuts and select Screenshots on left pane. Here what I configured is

  • Save current screenshot as file ( rarely using ) ->  Shift + Command + 2
  • Copy the same in to clipboard -> Command + 2

Now , as a Blogger and image editor , I frequently put images in clipboard and paste in Photoshop or in any other editor which supports clipboard import . Even in wordpress there is such a plugin where you can directly paste images from clip board.

  • Copy Selected Region to Clipboard -> Command + 1
  • Save Selected Region as File -> Shift + Command + 1

Once configured, Life will be easy on Screenshot management. If there is any better option to handle , share in comments
