Add Swap Space to a Running Linux Server without Reboot

imageFirst Create a Partition of the required size with fdisk

Check whether it is swap enabled run the following command

fdisk -l /dev/hdc1

Once a partition is marked as swap,  prepare it using the mkswap

mkswap /dev/hdc1

If you see no errors, your swap space is ready to use. To activate it immediately, type:

swapon /dev/hdb1
